Snag a Spot at The Flatiron Room’s Upcoming Whiskey Classes

January 13, 2015

The Flatiron Room, who houses their offices with Kew Management, offers exceptional whiskey tasting classes

Travel + Leisure recently announced that The Flatiron Room is one of America’s Best Whiskey Bars. We can’t help but be proud of Tommy Tardie’s growing fame. Not only is The Flatiron Room a staple of NoMad nightlife, but also our Townsend Building houses the company’s administrative offices. Needless to say, we’re always excited when our tenants garner much deserved notoriety.

We have featured The Flatiron Room on a number of occasions, showcasing its lush decorations, nightly live jazz music and exceptional dedication to the quality of both food and drink. Not to mention its most impressive calling card: the nearly 500 different varieties of whiskey, which makes The Flatiron Room what Travel + Leisure calls “Manhattan’s premiere whiskey destination.“

One of the great experiences in this neighborhood is attending The Flatiron Room’s unique whiskey classes . Now that nights are getting cold, a glass of fine whiskey (or several) is sure to warm you up. Many of this month’s events are already sold out, but there are still some opportunities for libational learning that should not be missed.

On January 21st, you can enjoy a Pappy Van Winkle Tasting Class. Lead by Heather Greene, The Flatiron Room’s Director of Education, you will explore the nuances of six legendary Van Winkle whiskies. After Greene walks you through each dram, you’ll definitely understand why Pappy has achieved such a cult-like status. Tickets cost $375 plus tax and are available online.

The next class on January 24th, Luxury Whiskies, lets you experience high-end drinks from different distilleries. Founder Tommy Tardie himself will teach you about six different luxury whiskies, explaining how whiskey is distilled, the effects of wood on the aging process and the complex flavors you’ll encounter. Tickets to this class cost $125 plus tax and are available online.

If you like your whiskey red, white and blue, come to the class on Fine American Whiskey. On January 27th, Tommy Tardie will provide you with six different American whiskies that he personally feels are “outstanding.” In addition to the six drams, you can enjoy a special signature cocktail and light appetizers throughout the event. Tickets cost $125 plus tax and are available online.

All classes start at 7 p.m., and take place in the tasting room of The Flatiron Room. For those of you who don’t know, The Flatiron Room is located at 37 West 26th Street, just around the block from the Kew offices.
