Every week there is news of the growth of the digital industry in our neighborhood as more top firms settle and expand here.

This week nearby ad-tech company AppNexus revealed just how fast it is growing. The company announced that it has just finished its largest hiring cycle, adding 93 employees to the company (That’s not counting the 70 who joined as part of its recent acquisition of fellow Manhattan ad-tech firm Yieldex).

The $1 billion digital firm supplies technology that powers the most innovative trading solutions and marketplaces for Internet advertising.

AppNexus employs a total of 920 people — 600 in its New York headquarters and the rest spread out around the globe.  The company currently occupies 65,000 square feet on the 4th floor of 28 West 23rd Street. In the summer, AppNexus will expand to another floor, bringing its total Flatiron footprint to 152,000 square feet.

According to Crain’s New York, AppNexus is considered to “well positioned” for an IPO this year. The company does not report its quarterly earnings, but if this hiring cycle and its projected $250 million in annual revenue are any indication, we can anticipate even more expansions down the line.
