When Num Pang, known for its inventive Cambodian-fusion sandwiches, moved into our building at 1129 Broadway in 2013, we suspected that the NoMad neighborhood would warmly welcome this amazing sandwich shop.

While it’s no surprise that Num Pang’s unique menu hasn’t stayed a secret to anyone in the neighborhood (we here at Kew are dedicated fans of Num Pang’s lunch options), we’re thrilled to see our tenants garner some much-deserved interest from two of the finest restaurants in NoMad .

High-end neighbors Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad Restaurant recently called on Num Pang when it was time to throw their joint staff holiday celebration. Co-founder Ben Daitz said Num Pang was “thrilled” to be feeding some of the best restaurants in the neighborhood.

Co-owners Ben Daitz and Ratha Chaupoly approach their recipes with expert precision and creativity, crafting Cambodian-fusion sandwiches, soups and salads that are as surprising as they are delicious. Every bite tastes salty, sweet, crunchy, creamy, spicy and tart, thanks to Num Pang’s inventive combinations of  traditional Asian ingredients like chili, cilantro and pickled fruits and vegetables.

Since opening their original Union Square location in 2009, the brand has expanded to six bustling shops in some of the city’s most prominent tourist hotspots – destinations like Times Square, near Grand Central Station, Battery Park City, and in the Chelsea Market and the NoMad District. The shop recently moved their original Union Square flagship across the street to 28 East 12th Street in order to accommodate growing demand.

No matter where their shops are, Num Pang’s owners know the importance of being good neighbors. Daitz isn’t giving away many details, but 2015 will bring “lots of new events and charity collaborations.”
